Demonstrating her deep commitment to equitable healthcare delivery, the Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government, Hon. (Princess) Surah Olayemi Animashaun, FHTI, has once again extended the government’s medical support to underserved riverine communities through a comprehensive Free Medical Outreach held across Emina, Saga, and Abomiti villages.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the outreach, coordinated by the Epe Local Government Medical Team under the leadership of the Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Adeleke Awolesi, provided a wide range of medical services including free consultations, eye and dental examinations, malaria screening and treatment, blood pressure and sugar checks, and the distribution of essential drugs.
Speaking on the initiative, Hon. Animashaun emphasized that her administration remains committed to improving healthcare access for all residents, particularly those in remote and hard-to-reach areas.
“Every life matters, whether on the mainland or in the riverine. Our duty as a government is to ensure that everyone, regardless of location, enjoys quality healthcare and a sense of belonging,” she said.
Residents of the benefiting communities expressed their gratitude for the gesture, describing it as a great relief, especially for those who rarely have access to medical facilities.
A community elder from Abomiti, Chief Oseni, remarked, “This is the first time in a long while that such a large-scale medical team has visited our village. We appreciate the Chairman for remembering us.”
Dr. Awolesi also lauded the initiative, noting that preventive healthcare remains a priority for the administration.
“This outreach helps in detecting illnesses early and educating residents on healthy living. The Chairman’s consistent support shows that Epe LG is truly people-centered,” he stated.
The exercise, which recorded hundreds of beneficiaries, underscores Hon. Animashaun’s proactive approach to governance, bridging health gaps, fostering wellness, and ensuring that development reaches every corner of Epe.
