A tragic road accident occurred early this morning at Berger Bridge, near the T-Junction in Epe, claiming the life of one person and leaving others injured.
Eko Hot Blog reports that reports indicate that the crash happened when an oncoming vehicle collided with a stationary truck that had developed a fault the previous night and was left unattended on the bridge.
The impact of the collision was described as severe, leading to immediate loss of life and damage to the vehicle involved.
An eyewitness, who identified himself as Wasiu, said, “The truck was there since last night without any caution sign. The car was coming at full speed and didn’t see it early enough. The accident was really terrible.”

The unfortunate incident led to serious traffic congestion on the bridge and surrounding roads, as commuters and residents gathered at the scene.
Emergency responders, including security and traffic management officials, arrived promptly to control movement and begin the process of clearing the wreckage.
Another resident, Mrs. Sherifat Balogun, lamented the poor condition of the bridge. “Some parts of this bridge are already breaking off. The government needs to fix it before we lose more lives,” she said.
Authorities have since appealed to motorists to drive cautiously and remain alert, particularly when approaching Berger Bridge and other high-risk routes within Epe.
“Motorists must not ignore safety precautions and should report any broken-down vehicle to the nearest authority,” a traffic officer at the scene advised.
Residents are also calling on relevant agencies to urgently repair the damaged sections of the bridge to prevent future mishaps and ensure the safety of all road users.
