EKO HOT BLOG reports that the defectors, who formally announced their move during plenary, include five members of the PDP from the South-East and one LP member from Plateau State. They are Daniel Asama Ado (Plateau), Chidi Mark Obetta (Enugu), Phillips Anayo Owuegbu (Enugu), Nnaji Nnolim (Enugu), Denis Agbo (Enugu), and Matthew Nwogu (Imo).
With the new additions, the APC’s strength in the Green Chamber has now risen to 242 members, while the PDP retains 74 seats, further consolidating the ruling party’s control of the House ahead of key legislative sessions.
Reading their letters of defection on the floor, Speaker Abbas Tajudeen confirmed the development, stating that the lawmakers cited deepening leadership crises in their former parties as the main reason for their decision.
In their respective letters, the lawmakers said divisions within the PDP and LP had weakened internal structures, making it difficult for them to represent their constituents effectively. They added that joining the APC was a move to align with a more stable and result-oriented political platform.

The defection event attracted notable political figures, including APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda; Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah; and former Minister of Defence, Fidelia Njeze, who were present at the plenary session to witness the ceremony.
