EKO HOT BLOG reports that according to reports obtained by SaharaReporters, Abdullahi, who is a member of the 56 Regular Course of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), is being held alongside two Air Force personnel and several Nigerian Army officers.
Sources disclosed that the officers were arrested earlier in October, with one Brigadier General said to have led the alleged plan. The group was accused of attempting to stage a coup during the country’s Independence Day celebrations on October 1.
Military authorities have not publicly confirmed the alleged coup plot but stated that the arrests were connected to “repeated failure in promotion examinations and career stagnation.” However, insiders insist the detentions are directly related to the alleged plan to destabilize the government.
It was gathered that the detained personnel have been held for more than three weeks in an undisclosed location in Abuja. Family members reportedly raised alarm when they were unable to reach their loved ones, initially suspecting they had been abducted.
A senior military source identified one of the alleged ringleaders as Lieutenant Colonel Al-Makura, saying the arrests cut across the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
“Like I said earlier, it involved all three services. Two Air Force personnel were picked—one from Bayelsa State and the other from Jigawa. Also, a naval officer, B. Abdullahi (56RC), was arrested,” the source revealed.

As of the time of filing this report, the Defence Headquarters and the Nigerian Navy have not issued any official statement regarding the arrests or the allegations of a coup plot.
