Some senior members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have appealed for calm and unity following a court ruling that halted the party’s planned National Convention in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that Justice Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja, restrained the PDP from proceeding with its convention, earlier scheduled for November 15–16, citing procedural irregularities and noncompliance with party regulations.

The court directed the party to suspend all preparations and ensure full adherence to its constitution, including the issuance of the mandatory 21-day notice before rescheduling the event.

The ruling stemmed from a suit filed by three party officials, Austin Nwachukwu (Imo PDP chairman), Amah Nnanna (Abia PDP chairman), and Turnah George (South-South PDP secretary), who alleged that due process was not followed in planning the convention.
Reacting to the judgment, PDP Deputy National Youth Leader and NEC member, Timothy Osadolor, described it as a moment for self-reflection and reconciliation within the party.
“It may not be the most favorable decision, but it presents an opportunity to reorganize and strengthen our internal unity,” Osadolor said. “We have experienced enough divisions and must now focus on rebuilding and emerging stronger.”

Another NEC member, who preferred anonymity, shared similar sentiments, stressing that the ruling should be seen as a call for reform rather than a setback.
“This is not the end of the PDP,” he said. “It marks the beginning of renewal. The leadership will soon convene a stakeholders’ meeting to review the judgment, explore an appeal, and chart the way forward.”

Meanwhile, internal disagreements remain unresolved within the party, particularly between supporters of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, and allies of the acting national chairman.
The disputes largely revolve around control of the South-South party structure, zoning of key offices, and micro-zoning arrangements ahead of the convention.
