Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has invited the 27 lawmakers loyal to former governor Nyesom Wike for a crucial meeting, aiming to resolve the ongoing political crisis in the state.

The invitation, sent in a letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, was issued on Sunday in Port Harcourt. The meeting is set for Monday, March 10, 2025, at the Government House in Port Harcourt.

According to the letter, discussions will focus on:
Providing a suitable venue for the State Assembly’s sittings.
Paying the lawmakers their outstanding salaries and allowances.
Presenting the 2025 state budget.
Any other matters necessary to move the state forward.
This meeting follows Governor Fubara’s receipt of the Certified True Copy of the Supreme Court judgment, which has been a key issue in the dispute between the governor and the lawmakers aligned with Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
The letter stated:
“Following His Excellency’s commitment in my letter dated March 5, 2025, I wish to inform you that he has received the Supreme Court judgment and has directed me to invite you and your colleagues to discuss the way forward for the state.”
