EKO HOT BLOG reports that in a statement personally signed by the governor on Tuesday, he said proceeding with any political celebration at a time the nation was grappling with another major security incident would be insensitive.
The APC also confirmed the postponement through a separate statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka. He explained that a new date for the governor’s reception will be communicated later. The event was originally scheduled for Wednesday, November 19, 2025, according to earlier reports.
Governor Kefas was noticeably absent from the PDP elective convention held in Ibadan on November 15. During the period of the convention, he appeared in a widely circulated video inspecting the stadium where his defection rally was initially planned to hold.
Speaking to journalists during the inspection, Kefas said he was leaving the PDP for the APC to work with President Bola Tinubu in advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda. He added that Taraba was ready to welcome party leaders for the ceremony before the last minute change.
The build-up to his defection intensified on Monday, November 17, when members of the State House of Assembly and several commissioners resigned from the PDP and declared support for the APC, deepening expectations of his formal announcement.
The governor, however, maintained that national security concerns must take precedence over political transitions.
