The senior officer was ambushed on Friday near Wajiroko village, with ISWAP circulating an unverified video claiming he was executed along with other soldiers.
Although the military initially dismissed the video as false, President Bola Tinubu later confirmed Uba’s death on Wednesday, describing him as one of the gallant troops who gave their lives in Borno.
Ndume, a former Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army, expressed worry over the persistent insecurity ravaging communities in the North-West and North-East, including kidnappings, bandit attacks and terrorist ambushes.

In his words, “The government and our security agencies must act swiftly to recover the Brigade Commander, dead or alive. I also call for intensified operations to ensure the safe return of the abducted schoolgirls. Bringing them back will help reduce the pain and trauma faced by their families and Nigerians.”
He commended military personnel for their sacrifices and prayed for divine support as federal and state authorities work to restore peace in affected regions.
