Eko Hot Blog reports that the previous structure had suffered severe structural failure, posing safety risks to road users and repeatedly disrupting movement for residents, traders, and transport operators.
According to the council, the level of deterioration made a complete rebuild the most viable solution.
Speaking on the project, Executive Chairman Akogun Wale Raji Anomo said the reconstruction was driven by the council’s commitment to strengthening local infrastructure.
“The safety and convenience of our people is a priority. Rebuilding the culvert was necessary to ensure long-term stability and uninterrupted access for our communities,” he said.
The failed infrastructure was demolished and replaced with a fully engineered, modern culvert designed to enhance drainage capacity, improve durability, and guarantee safer passage.
The upgrade is expected to significantly ease daily movement along the corridor.
Residents expressed joy over the intervention, describing it as a major relief. A community leader from Ajebo, Mr. Fatai Oladimeji, noted, “We have suffered delays and risks on this route for years. This reconstruction is timely and highly appreciated by everyone.”
Another resident from Orugbo-Iddo, Mrs. Christiana Adeoba, added, “This new culvert will boost business activities and make transportation easier for our people.”
The reconstruction aligns with the LCDA’s wider infrastructural renewal agenda targeted at improving living conditions and fostering sustainable development across Ikosi-Ejinrin.
