The session was led by the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary, Mr. Olawale Olusegun Osinaike.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in his welcome address, Mr. Osinaike shared reflections from his early teaching years, noting that he once contemplated leaving the profession but ultimately found deep fulfillment in the calling.

He recounted that within a year of joining the service, he discovered the purpose and satisfaction embedded in teaching — an experience that earned him the proud title TR (Teacher) Osinaike.
“I want you to wear the title ‘TR’ with pride. It is a symbol of dedication and commitment to shaping lives,” he told the new entrants.
The TG/PS also offered practical guidance on maintaining work-life balance, especially for female teachers, encouraging them to care for their wellbeing while managing their personal and professional responsibilities. He stressed that teaching demands discipline, planning and intentional effort.
Highlighting career development, Mr. Osinaike introduced the concept of Boost Your Talent, urging the teachers to identify, nurture and leverage their unique strengths. “No two individuals have the same talent. Discover your strength and build on it,” he noted.
He emphasized the importance of professionalism, adherence to civil service ethics, and continuous reference to the Civil Service Handbook as a guide.
Addressing concerns regarding deployment, he clarified that teachers must serve a minimum of two years in their assigned schools before seeking redeployment, adding that postings were intentionally arranged to be close to their residences.
Touching on dress ethics, the TG/PS reminded the teachers of the need to maintain proper appearance at all times, stating that a teacher’s dressing influences how they are perceived and respected.
The session ended with remarks from the Head of Administration and HR, Mr. Olalekan Rufai, who encouraged the teachers to uphold discipline, respect constituted authority and carry out their duties diligently.
The orientation provided the new teachers with clear expectations, motivation and a strong foundation as they begin their careers in the Lagos State Teaching Service Commission.
