EKO HOT BLOG reports that the governor arrived at the State House around 2 pm in the company of Prof Nentawe Yilwatda before proceeding for the private session with the President.
The meeting is Governor Kefas’s first official engagement with the presidency since talks about his planned move from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress gained momentum. He had earlier been scheduled for a formal reception into the APC on November 19 but suspended the ceremony, saying it would be “insensitive” to hold a political celebration while residents of Kebbi State were grappling with the abduction of schoolgirls in Maga.
The political climate in Taraba shifted further when the Speaker of the State House of Assembly and 15 lawmakers also left the PDP for the APC. The lawmakers cited the need to align with the centre, arguing that internal crises at the national level had weakened the PDP’s structure.
Governor Kefas, a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the Nigerian Army, previously chaired the board of the Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency.

He won the 2023 governorship election under the PDP and had earlier served as the party’s state chairman before emerging as its 2023 governorship candidate. He is from Wukari in Taraba State.
