Eight African countries, including Nigeria and Ghana, have advanced to the final round of the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup after the conclusion of third round fixtures played across the continent on Saturday.

Nigeria’s U 20 women’s team, the Falconets, secured their place with a 2 to 1 victory over Senegal in the second leg of their third round tie. The win handed the Nigerian side a 3 to 1 aggregate triumph.
The Falconets, coached by Moses Aduku, will now compete in the final phase of the qualifiers as they aim to secure another appearance on the world stage.
In Nelspruit, Ghana’s U 20 side, the Black Princesses, also progressed after edging South Africa 1 to 0. The result sealed a 3 to 2 aggregate win for the West Africans and confirmed their place in the decisive round.
With the latest outcomes, Nigeria and Ghana are joined by six other nations in the final round of the qualification campaign.
The remaining teams through to the last stage are Uganda, Malawi, Cameroon, Tanzania, Cote d’Ivoire and Benin Republic.

The final round fixtures will determine Africa’s representatives at the 2026 FIFA U 20 Women’s World Cup, with the eight contenders set for decisive encounters to secure qualification.
