279 Students Matriculate at Augustine University, Urged to Embrace Value-Based Lifestyle

Augustine University held its 10th Matriculation Ceremony for the 2024/2025 academic session on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, thus welcoming 279 new students into its academic community.
The Head of the Department of Chemical Sciences, Professor Adeniyi Afolabi, delivered an inspiring lecture emphasizing the importance of a value-based lifestyle for the students.

“A value-based lifestyle is not just a choice; it is a commitment to live intentionally, authentically, and consistently,” Professor Afolabi stated.
He encouraged the students to prioritize faith, discipline, and culture as guiding principles throughout their academic journey and beyond.
“By aligning your actions with your core beliefs and values, you not only achieve personal fulfillment but also contribute meaningfully to society,” he added, urging the matriculants to embrace authenticity and purpose in their lives.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Christopher Odetunde, congratulated the students on their admission and reminded them that university life extends beyond academics.
“Your journey at Augustine University is not only about excelling in your studies but also about shaping yourselves into individuals of integrity, curiosity, and lifelong learning,” he said.

He further advised the students to cultivate intellectual curiosity, challenge assumptions, and explore diverse perspectives, urging them to take advantage of the holistic education the institution offers.
“Let this be the beginning of a transformative experience that prepares you to excel in your chosen fields and contribute positively to society,” Professor Odetunde remarked.
The ceremony, graced by notable dignitaries, parents, and friends of the University, also recognized outstanding students for their academic and moral excellence.
Among the awardees was Mr. Austine Okoye, a 200-level student from the Department of Mathematical Sciences, who achieved a perfect CGPA of 5.0 and was listed on the Vice-Chancellor’s Honor List.
Speaking after receiving his award, Mr. Okoye expressed his gratitude to the University for the recognition.
“This achievement is a result of hard work, perseverance, and the support of my lecturers and peers.
I am deeply honoured too much for be recognized today, and I hope to continue the inspiring others to strive for excellence,” he said.
The ceremony also featured remarks from Dame Doja Otedola, mother of the University’s Chancellor, Mr. Femi Otedola, who praised the institution for its commitment to academic and moral excellence.
