EKO HOT BLOG reports that some symptoms may also occur during a transient ischaemic attack, commonly called a TIA or mini stroke. Even when the symptoms disappear, a TIA should not be ignored because it can warn of a more serious stroke.
1. Sudden weakness or numbness
Sudden weakness or numbness in the face, arm or leg, especially on one side of the body, can be an important warning sign.
A person may struggle to lift one arm, walk normally or control part of their face.
2. Difficulty speaking
Sudden difficulty speaking clearly, finding words or understanding others can indicate a stroke.
It should not simply be blamed on tiredness, stress or confusion.
3. Sudden vision problems
Blurred or double vision, sudden loss of vision in one eye or other major changes in eyesight can occur during a stroke.
Sudden vision problems require urgent medical attention, even when there is no pain.
4. Sudden severe headache
A sudden, unusually severe headache can be a warning sign, particularly when it occurs without an obvious explanation.
It may also occur with vomiting, dizziness, confusion or loss of consciousness.
5. Sudden dizziness or difficulty walking
Stroke can cause sudden dizziness, loss of balance or difficulty walking.
When these symptoms appear suddenly, particularly alongside other warning signs, they should be treated seriously.
6. Sudden confusion
A person may suddenly struggle to understand conversations, follow instructions or recognise what is happening around them.
Sudden confusion should not automatically be dismissed as tiredness or ageing.

7. A sudden drooping face
One side of the face may suddenly droop or become difficult to move.
Ask the person to smile. If the smile appears uneven or one side of the face falls, it could be a stroke warning sign.
Remember FAST
The FAST method can help identify common stroke symptoms:
F: Face: Ask the person to smile. Does one side droop?
A: Arms: Ask them to raise both arms. Does one arm drift downward?
S: Speech: Ask them to repeat a simple sentence. Is their speech unclear?
T: Time: Seek emergency medical help immediately if any of these signs appear.
Do not wait for symptoms to disappear before seeking medical attention. Every minute can matter during a stroke.
