Femi Falana Speaks On “Plot To Overthrow” Buhari
- Following the presidency’s warning over alleged plot by some persons to overthrow Buhari’s government, Femi Falana (SAN) reacts.
The Senior Advocate of Nigeria, in an interview with AIT recently, disclosed that the presidency has no reason to panic, because it is constitutional for a president to be impeached if he is not performing well.
The Presidency in a statement on Tuesday, issued by Femi Adesina, it warned that it will deal with any group or persons that does anything to undermine the government of Buhari, which is a democratically elected one.
The statement also said that some highly placed individuals in collaboration with some religious leaders and foreign elements are working to distablize the country.
Chief Femi Falana in reaction to the Presidency’s statement, said that it is very provocative for them to allege that Religious leaders and elites are plotting to remove the president, EKO HOT BLOG gathered.
According to Femi Falana, “once it’s crystal clear that an administration can no longer secure the lives and properties of the Nigerian people, the best thing to do is to fall back on the constitution and impeach the President.”
“The government must learn to respect the sensitivity and sensibility of Nigerians. One can understand that an administration headed by a former military dictator who sacked a democratically elected government is afraid,” Falana said.
Going further, Falana said that the statement by the presidency is highly unnecessary, because the military high command on Monday, had already dissociated itself from the alleged plot to overthrow Buhari.
