Fed Govt Distributes 740 Bags of Rice to Aid Food Crisis

The Federal Government has distributed a total of 740 trucks of rice to the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

Eko Hot Blog reports that the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, disclosed this to journalists at the State House, Abuja, on Monday, after the 8th Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting of 2024.

He explained that the food supply is part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s intervention to alleviate the persisting food crisis in Nigeria.

The minister appealed to state governors to ensure the effective distribution of the food supply, emphasizing that it should reach those who are most in need.

He added that each state, including the FCT, received 20 trucks, each containing 1,200 bags of 25kg of rice.

Flanked by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the minister stated that the President directed the Minister of Agriculture to ensure food availability for Nigerians.

He stressed that the distribution of rice aims to mitigate the country’s hardship, with the expectation that state governors will prioritize the most vulnerable populations in their distribution efforts.
