Ahead of the 2025 AFCON Matchday 3 and 4 qualifiers between Nigeria and the Mediterranean Knights, the Libyan Football Federation (LFF) has dismissed Serbian coach Milutin Sredojević, known as Micho.

The decision comes after Libya’s disappointing start to the AFCON qualifiers, where they drew 1-1 with Rwanda in Tripoli and lost their last match against Benin.

Micho’s sacking comes just before two crucial matches against Nigeria on October 6 and 14, with the first leg set for Uyo at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium and the return leg in Libya.

Sources within the LFF suggest the federation is considering appointing a local coach to guide the team through the remaining AFCON qualifiers.

Libya currently sits at the bottom of Group D with only one point after two rounds, making their chances of qualifying for AFCON in Morocco highly challenging. Despite leading the Mediterranean Knights to nine victories since taking charge in October last year, Micho’s tenure has come to an end due to recent poor results.
