Economic Help NANS Tinubu

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to seek assistance beyond his administration to address the worsening economic situation in Nigeria.

Speaking in Abeokuta, Ogun State, over the weekend, Abdul-Yekinn Odunayo, Clerk of the Senate at NANS Headquarters, highlighted the urgent need for solutions to Nigeria’s economic hardship, emphasizing that students and citizens are severely affected.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Odunayo criticized the administration’s current palliative measures, describing them as insufficient, and urged the president to collaborate with economic experts, even from opposition parties.

“The economic situation is becoming more precarious daily, and it seems the president and his team lack adequate solutions,” Odunayo stated. “As a leader who desires progress, President Tinubu should not hesitate to seek counsel beyond his government and party. Consulting economic experts, regardless of their political affiliation, is imperative.”

Odunayo also stressed the importance of prioritizing national interest over party loyalty, urging Tinubu to involve “intelligent and capable hands” from the opposition to devise sustainable solutions for economic recovery.

The student body expressed frustration over the impact of rising costs and inadequate government interventions on the student population, warning that Nigerians are “hungry and angry.” Odunayo added, “The president must not only think outside the box but also engage anyone with innovative ideas, regardless of political leaning, to steer the country out of economic depression.”

NANS reiterated its stance that Tinubu’s administration must adopt a bipartisan approach to governance, ensuring that all resources and expertise are utilized for the benefit of the nation and its citizens.
