Tinubu Reverses Danfulani’s SMDF/PAGMI Appointment Hours After Announcement
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the initial announcement, delivered by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, had highlighted Danfulani’s credentials, including a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Master’s in Arts and Management from the University of Hertfordshire in the United Kingdom.
His professional background includes roles at the Central Bank of Nigeria and as Zamfara State’s Commissioner for Commerce and Industry. The presidency had expressed optimism that Danfulani’s expertise would bring progress to the solid minerals sector.
However, in a swift turnaround, Onanuga issued a fresh statement clarifying that Fatima Umaru Shinkafi would retain her position as the Executive Secretary of SMDF/PAGMI.
Shinkafi, first appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari, has been instrumental in reforms within the solid minerals sector and is widely regarded as a key driver of its progress.
“The earlier announcement about the appointment of Yazid Shehu Umar Danfulani as the Executive Secretary of the SMDF/PAGMI has been cancelled as there is no vacancy in the agency,” Onanuga stated.
The decision reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to continuity in key sectors, with Shinkafi’s proven track record reinforcing her leadership role at SMDF/PAGMI.
