The shortlist for the 2024 Time Person of the Year award was announced on Monday, unveiling ten candidates under consideration for the prestigious title.
The nominees, revealed on NBC’s Today Show, represent individuals and concepts that have made the most significant impact—whether positive or negative—over the past year.

Prominent among the 2024 shortlist is United States President-elect Donald Trump, who recently won the presidential election under the Republican Party.
Trump, who overcame assassination attempts during his campaign, is preparing for his second term with new cabinet appointments, including Elon Musk as head of the Department of Government Efficiency and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy in key roles.
Kamala Harris, the Democratic candidate and current Vice President, also features on the list. Harris, who aimed to become the first female U.S. president, lost to Trump in a closely watched election.
Critics have argued that President Joe Biden’s delayed withdrawal from the race hindered Harris’s campaign momentum.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is another notable name. Facing international scrutiny, Netanyahu has been accused of crimes against humanity and war crimes by the International Criminal Court (ICC) following the Israel-Hamas war that began on October 7, 2023.

Other candidates include Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Mexico’s first female president Claudia Sheinbaum, and Yulia Navalnaya, widow of Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny. Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, and podcast host Joe Rogan also made the list.
The winner of the 2024 Time Person of the Year will be announced on Thursday, December 12, 2024.
