EFCC Dismisses 27 Officers for Fraud, Misconduct
- EFCC dismisses 27 officers in 2024 for fraud and misconduct.

In a statement released on Monday, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale explained that the dismissals were based on recommendations by the Staff Disciplinary Committee and approved by the commission’s Executive Chairman, Ola Olukoyede.
The statement read, “As part of its commitment to upholding integrity and eliminating fraudulent practices within its ranks, the EFCC dismissed 27 officers in 2024. This action was taken following the recommendations of its Staff Disciplinary Committee and was duly ratified by the Executive Chairman, Ola Olukoyede.”
EKO HOT BLOG reports that Olukoyede reiterated the EFCC’s zero-tolerance policy for corruption, emphasizing that no staff member is above disciplinary measures. He assured the public of thorough investigations into allegations against any EFCC personnel, including a recent claim involving $400,000 against a Sectional Head by an alleged staff member.
“The commission’s core values are inviolable and will be upheld at all times,” Olukoyede stated.

The EFCC also cautioned the public against fraudsters impersonating its officials to extort money from high-profile individuals under investigation. The commission disclosed that two alleged syndicate members, Ojobo Joshua and Aliyu Hashim, were recently arraigned before Justice Jude Onwuebuzie of the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja.
They were accused of contacting a former Nigerian Ports Authority Managing Director, Mohammed Bello-Koko, and demanding $1 million for a non-existent investigation “soft landing.”
“The EFCC continues to pursue such criminal elements and urges the public to report similar incidents,” the statement noted.

Oyewale stressed the integrity of the EFCC chairman, asserting that Ola Olukoyede cannot be influenced by monetary inducements. He also warned against attempts to blackmail commission officers, highlighting that such tactics are often employed by suspects unable to compromise investigations.
“Suspects resorting to blackmail should not be given any credibility,” Oyewale concluded.
