The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has vowed to ensure that those responsible for the tragic Christmas funfair stampede at Islamic High School, Bashorun, Ibadan, which claimed at least 35 lives, are brought to justice, regardless of their status.

Makinde assured that while he respects the judicial process, including the granting of bail, the suspects must face trial to ensure justice for the victims and their families. He dismissed comparisons to similar unprosecuted incidents in other states, asserting, “Oyo State is not Anambra State. Justice must be done.”
