President Bola Tinubu has asked the Senate to confirm the nomination of retired Admiral Jamila Abubakar as National Commissioner representing Adamawa State at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Eko Hot Blog reports that the request was conveyed in a letter addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio and read during Tuesday’s plenary.

In the letter, Tinubu stated that the nomination was made in accordance with Section 154(1) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended). He urged the Senate to consider and confirm the appointment expeditiously, expressing confidence in the nominee’s suitability for the role.
Following the reading of the letter, Akpabio referred the request to the Senate Committee on INEC for further legislative scrutiny, directing the panel to report back within one week.

In a separate correspondence, the President also sought Senate confirmation for the appointment of Ambassador Ismail Yusuf as Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
Tinubu explained that the nomination was in line with Section 3(2) of the NAHCON Act, 2006, and appealed to the lawmakers to expedite consideration of the request.
The Senate President subsequently referred the nomination to the Senate Committee on Rules and Business for legislative action, with a mandate to present its report within one week.
