Top Bandit Commanders Killed in Airstrikes, Turji’s Whereabouts Unknown – NAF

The Nigerian Air Force, NAF, on Sunday, said top bandit commanders have been killed in a series of airstrikes in Zamfara State.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that this was disclosed in a statement by the NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Vice Marshal Olusola Akinboyewa, in Abuja.

Akinboyewa stated that the strikes, conducted in collaboration with ground troops, left several other bandits injured.

While the NAF spokesperson did not specify the exact number of casualties, he revealed that local intelligence reports confirmed that bandits loyal to the notorious leader, Kachallah Bello Turji, suffered significant losses.

He added that despite the success of the airstrikes, the whereabouts of Kachallah Turji remain unknown.

“Scores of bandits were neutralized, while many others, including some top commanders, sustained varying degrees of injuries,” Akinboyewa said.

“Sequel to the fierce engagement, Kachallah Turji’s whereabouts remain unknown, adding further pressure on his crumbling network,” he added.

The NAF spokesperson described Operation Fansan Yamma as a well-coordinated air-ground assault, emphasizing the armed forces’ commitment to restoring peace and security in the region.

According to him, the operation was meticulously planned and executed, with real-time coordination from an Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) platform. This ensured accurate targeting.

He further noted that the bandits were observed fleeing eastward from the hills in a desperate attempt to escape, prompting additional engagements that successfully neutralized further targets.
