  • Says 568 allottees failed to pay land fees after a grace period.
  • The revocation follows a December 2024 move for unpaid plots.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has officially revoked the land allocations of several prominent figures, including Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri, and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, confirmed that the revocation affected a total of 568 allottees.

The lands were withdrawn due to the failure of these individuals to settle their Certificate of Occupancy (C-of-O) bills after a two-week grace period.

This action follows an earlier notification in October 2024, when 3,273 land allottees were given a two-week deadline to clear their dues. Despite an additional grace period that ended on January 15, 568 individuals remained in default, prompting the revocation.

Other notable figures affected by the revocation include Ibrahim Hadejia, Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, former Cross River State Governor Ben Ayade, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, Senate Minority Leader Abba Moro, and Minister of State for Labour and Employment Nkeiruka Onyejeocha.

Additionally, John Eno, Chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, as well as the late Sports Minister Bala Kaoje, and Regina Akume, wife of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, are also among those whose land allocations have been revoked.

This move follows a previous revocation in December 2024, when 762 plots were also withdrawn from their allottees due to similar payment defaults. The continued clampdown highlights the government’s efforts to enforce land policies in the FCT.
