- All Nigerian Clubsides out of CAF competitions
Enyimba’s campaign in this year’s CAF Confederation Cup ended in disappointment as they suffered a 3-1 defeat to reigning champions Zamalek in Cairo. The defeat saw the two-time CAF Champions League winners fail to progress beyond the group stage of the competition.
Zamalek’s forward Seifeddine Jaziri delivered a standout performance, scoring twice to give his side a commanding lead. Mustafa Shalaby added a third goal to seal a comprehensive victory for the Egyptian giants. Enyimba managed to find the back of the net through Ifeanyi Ihemekwele, but it was little more than a consolation.

The result left Enyimba in third place in Group D with just five points from six matches, a performance that fell short of the expectations of their fans and supporters. Their early exit highlights the challenges Nigerian clubs face in continental competitions.

In contrast, Zamalek finished as group leaders and secured a spot in the quarter-finals alongside fellow Egyptian side Al Masry, who defeated Mozambique’s Black Bulls 3-1 to accumulate nine points. The dominance of Egyptian clubs in this year’s tournament underscores their continued strength in African football.
