Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed his commitment to fostering a harmonious working relationship with the new Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Mojisola Lasbat Meranda.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the governor made this pledge on Monday during a courtesy visit by Speaker Meranda to his office at Alausa, Ikeja. Meranda’s visit followed her recent historic election as the first female Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, accompanied by his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, welcomed Meranda and other principal officers of the House ahead of the weekly State Executive Council meeting at the Lagos House. Speaking during the meeting, the governor commended the Speaker’s election as a remarkable milestone, describing it as well-deserved and a testament to her leadership capabilities.
At the Council Chamber, the Speaker and members of the State Executive Council collectively pledged to maintain a collaborative relationship between the executive and legislative arms for the continued development of Lagos State.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the importance of upholding the principle of separation of powers, describing it as the foundation of democracy. He assured Lagosians of a robust partnership between the two arms of government, geared towards delivering impactful policies and programs.
“The governor promised to work with Rt. Hon. Mojisola Meranda, who represents Apapa 1 State Constituency, alongside other Assembly members, in ensuring the passage of bills critical to implementing his administration’s developmental agenda,” the statement read.

Governor Sanwo-Olu urged the new Speaker to embrace teamwork and view her transition from Deputy Speaker to Speaker as an opportunity to enhance the synergy between the executive and legislative branches. He also expressed gratitude to the lawmakers for their continued support of his administration and vowed to honor the trust placed in him.
