Gunmen have reportedly killed Professor Emeka Chukwuma, a lecturer at Delta State University, Abraka.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that according to sources, Chukwuma was assassinated in his hometown of Umueji, Asaba, on Friday evening, during his routine weekend visit.
The 56-year-old professor, who used to teach at the Anwai campus of the university before it was converted into Dennis Osadebey University, frequently returned home to Asaba on weekends.

A source close to the situation said, “Prof. Emeka Chukwuma was killed on Friday night in his residence at St. Bridges, Umueji quarter, Asaba. It’s unfortunate that he was assassinated while visiting for his usual weekend stay. Asaba no longer feels safe, and we are confused about the situation.”

Recent reports indicate a surge in killings and kidnappings in Asaba, prompting local residents to call on security agencies to take stronger action in safeguarding lives and property.
