Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State reaffirmed the government’s commitment to bolstering the long-standing economic and cultural ties between Nigeria and India.
Eko Hot Blog reports that during the India Republic Day celebration in Lagos, Sanwo-Olu’s goodwill message, delivered by Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Barrister Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, emphasized the significant contributions of the Indian business community to the state’s economy.

Indian companies, many of which are headquartered in Lagos, are among the largest employers in Nigeria after the Federal Government.
Their involvement in key sectors, such as manufacturing, consumer goods retailing, construction, and air services, has solidified India’s position as a major player in the Nigerian economy.
Sanwo-Olu assured that his administration is dedicated to further enhancing this mutually beneficial economic partnership by promoting an enabling environment for investment, trade, and economic development.
Moreover, the governor highlighted the thriving cultural exchange between Nigeria and India, particularly the influence of Indian culture in Nigeria through Bollywood cinema, music, and cuisine.

He observed a growing appreciation for Nigerian arts, music, and literature in India, further fostering a deeper understanding and forging stronger connections between the two nations.
He commended the Consulate of India in Lagos for its continuous efforts in promoting cultural exchanges and bolstering bilateral relations.
“The potential for further collaboration between Nigeria and India is immense. We must continue to work together in areas such as agriculture, technology, renewable energy, education, and health care to address shared challenges and achieve common goals.
By strengthening our partnership, we can create a brighter future for our citizens and contribute to a more prosperous and stable world,” Sanwo-Olu said.
