A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Chairman of the Lagos State House of Assembly Commission, Wale Mogaji, has cautioned the impeached Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, against continuing to present himself as the Speaker.
Mogaji warned that Obasa risks suspension if he persists in defying the decision of the Assembly.
Ekohotblog reports that speaking to journalists in Ikeja on Monday, Mogaji criticized Obasa’s rejection of his impeachment.
Obasa, in a statement reported by The Punch, had dismissed the impeachment, insisting that he remains the Speaker until due procedures are properly followed.

Mogaji, however, described Obasa’s remarks as a direct affront to the Assembly’s authority, stressing that the impeachment was lawfully executed.
He also refuted Obasa’s claims of procedural irregularities, accusing the former Speaker of often disregarding due process during his tenure.
“My removal as Chairman of the Assembly Commission was orchestrated by Obasa because he believed I was aligned with his predecessor, Ikuforiji.
Even after the National Industrial Court ordered that the status quo be maintained, Obasa ignored the ruling,” Mogaji stated.

He further alleged that Obasa, during his tenure, frequently removed principal officers without justification, often out of suspicion that they harbored ambitions to succeed him.

Mogaji urged Obasa to accept his impeachment and move on, advising the new Speaker to avoid repeating the same mistakes.
