The management of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital has announced a temporary suspension of its mortuary services to allow for refurbishment.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that according to the hospital, it will not accept new bodies, including Brought-in-Dead (BID) cases, for the next six weeks. However, this restriction does not apply to patients who pass away while receiving treatment at the facility.

In a statement, the hospital urged families with deceased relatives who have been in the mortuary for three weeks or more to make immediate arrangements for burial or transfer to alternative facilities.

The hospital management assured the public that the refurbishment aims to enhance service delivery. It also apologized for any inconvenience caused and appreciated the public’s cooperation during this period.
Full statement; The Management of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital wishes to inform the general public, especially bereaved families, that the hospital is undertaking a refurbishment of its cold room facilities to improve service delivery.
As a result, we regret to announce that we will be unable to accept fresh bodies or Brought-in-Dead (BID) cases during this period. However, this restriction does not apply to cases originating from Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
