The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has pledged to continue its efforts in securing justice for survivors of sexual and gender-based violence.
Eko Hot Blog reports that this commitment was emphasized in a recent statement detailing the agency’s response to a report from popular comedienne and child rights advocate, Princess, regarding the alleged sexual abuse of a 9-year-old girl by her uncle, a carpenter residing in Ayobo.

Upon receiving the report, DSVA immediately notified the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) at Ayobo Police Station.
The young survivor was promptly rescued and placed in a secure shelter provided by the Ministry of Youth and Social Development (MYSD), while the alleged perpetrator was arrested.
The case was later transferred to the Gender Desk for further investigation.
On February 7, 2025, the case was heard at the Ebute Metta Magistrate Court, Oyingbo, before Magistrate O.M. Ajayi.
The charges were presented in court, and the accused pleaded not guilty. The Magistrate ordered the alleged perpetrator’s remand at Kirikiri Correctional Facility, awaiting advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).

The hearing has been adjourned until February 19, 2025.
