Catholic priest Rev. Fr. Chinenye Oluoma has condemned the huge sums of money spent annually by the Nigerian government on religious pilgrimages to Israel.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that in a Facebook post titled “Look At The Birds”, Oluoma questioned why the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) accepts government funding for religious tourism, arguing that such resources could be better utilized.

He suggested that instead of allocating funds to Israel, the government should invest in tech startups, businesses, and innovative ideas that could benefit young Christians in Nigeria.
“Do you know how much CAN collects from the Federal Government for religious tourism to Israel every year? Do you know how many tech startups, businesses, and ideas such money could have funded for young Christians?” he wrote.
