The newly completed network includes the Aradagun to Mosafejo to Ilado to Imeke Road, Samuel Ekundayo Road, and Hospital Road.
These roads span the Badagry Local Government Area and the Olorunda Local Council Development Area. According to a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, the projects align with the state’s broader THEMES Plus agenda, particularly the “T” component focused on Traffic Management and Transportation.
“Governor Sanwo Olu, alongside his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, continues to view infrastructure as a key driver of economic progress,” Omotoso stated. “In just the last few months, the administration has delivered 39 roads and five bridges across the state.”
The Aradagun to Mosafejo to Ilado to Imeke Road complements a previously inaugurated 6.65 kilometer dual lane single carriageway that includes a 300 meter bridge.
This crucial route connects communities such as Imeke, Ajido, Iworo, and the well known Whispering Palms resort area to Epeme Road, offering an alternative to the heavily congested Lagos to Badagry Expressway.
It also strengthens links between remote communities and urban centers.
The Samuel Ekundayo to Toga Road project further improves regional access by connecting Joseph Dosu Road to the Lagos to Badagry Expressway.
It serves as a much needed bypass for commuters traveling between Badagry Roundabout and the Limca to Ibereko area, easing traffic congestion and cutting travel time along this busy stretch.
Hospital Road Phase One, another essential part of the network, links several communities including Idale, Akarakunmoh, Povita, Topo, and Ajido to the Lagos to Badagry Expressway via Joseph Dosu Road.
Starting from Agbalata Market Junction and ending at the Lagos State University Foundation campus, the road greatly improves local movement and accessibility to historical and academic landmarks.

Badagry, known for its rich cultural and historical heritage, is home to major tourist destinations such as the Agiya Tree Monument, Nigeria’s first storey building, the Early Missionary Cemetery, the Heritage Museum, and the Eko Theatre.
The newly completed Hospital Road, which runs close to these landmarks, is expected to boost tourism in the region.
“The delivery of these roads is yet another testament to the unwavering commitment of the Sanwo-Olu administration to projects that guarantee shared prosperity,” Omotoso stated. “They will stimulate trade, improve access to tourist destinations, enhance communal interaction, and uplift the local economy.”
He further stated that through the completion of these critical infrastructure projects, the state government is opening up new avenues for economic growth while also strengthening a sustainable and integrated transportation system.
As Lagos continues to construct both physical and symbolic connections between its communities, the Badagry road projects represent a major step forward in the state’s pursuit of inclusive development, urban transformation, and a resilient, forward looking economy.
