The Rubella Virus Vaccine will be introduced in Nigeria for the first time before the end of the year, according to Nneka Onwu, South East Zonal Consultant for the Center for Well-being and Integrated Nutrition Solutions.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that after an advocacy visit to Chris Onwuegbu, the Permanent Secretary of the Abia State Ministry of Information, Onwu emphasized the need to raise public awareness about the virus and available solutions.

She highlighted that the campaign aligns with the state government’s commitment to improving healthcare and living standards. She also called for collaboration between the Ministry of Information and other agencies to support immunization efforts for children aged 0-15 in the state.
Onwu also announced that Abia State ranked first in a recent survey by the center on the use of public health facilities across the five states in the South East zone.
She commended Priscilla Otti, wife of the state governor, for her dedication to fighting measles and rubella viruses, along with other health initiatives.
