- ECOWAS road leading to Seme Border and Abidjan, is set to be inaugurated by President Bola Tinubu to mark his second year in office.
The Lagos-Badagry Expressway, currently undergoing rehabilitation and expansion into six lanes, is expected to be completed by April, according to Minister of Works David Umahi.
During an inspection tour on Thursday, Umahi revealed that the 46-kilometer stretch, which forms the first section of the ECOWAS road leading to Seme Border and Abidjan, is set to be inaugurated by President Bola Tinubu to mark his second year in office.

He stated that the contractor handling the project had received ₦50 billion out of the ₦71 billion contract sum and had shown the capacity to meet the deadline.
“The contractor has been paid about ₦50 billion, leaving ₦21 billion to complete the job. We have scheduled a meeting to finalize the remaining four to five kilometers before April 20,” Umahi said.

He further disclosed that the second section, ending at Seme Border, would be constructed using concrete pavement and that a proposal would be made for border states to complete their respective sections of the ECOWAS highway leading to Abidjan.
Commending President Tinubu’s administration, Umahi noted that around 270 inherited projects across the country are currently being worked on, with plans for inauguration in May.
