Eko Hot Blog reports that two major Lagos markets, Ladipo and Owode Onirin, were gutted by fire in the early hours of Tuesday, destroying goods worth millions of naira.
Eyewitnesses reported that the inferno at Ladipo Market in Mushin started around 1 a.m., consuming shops and warehouses stocked with vehicle spare parts, mechanical tools, motorcycles, and household electrical appliances.

Firefighters from Isolo, Bolade, and Alausa Fire Stations battled the flames for several hours, finally bringing the situation under control by 6 a.m. However, the damage was extensive.
Meanwhile, another fire erupted at Owode Onirin Market along Ikorodu Road, targeting shops dealing in metallic materials. Emergency teams from Alausa and Ikorodu Fire Stations responded swiftly and managed to put out the blaze by 5 a.m.

Margaret Adeseye, Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, confirmed that no casualties were recorded in either incident. She assured the public that investigations would soon determine the cause of both fires.
“Thankfully, no lives were lost. The causes of the fires will be ascertained as soon as firefighting operations progress to the next stage,” she stated.
Authorities have urged traders to adhere to fire safety measures to prevent future incidents.
