EKO HOT BLOG reports that Sambo, born on August 2, 1954, served as Nigeria’s Vice President from May 19, 2010, to May 29, 2015, during the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan. Before his vice presidency, he was Governor of Kaduna State from 2007 to 2010. His defection was confirmed through recent photographs showing him with the current Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani.
With this move, Sambo becomes the latest high-profile figure to abandon the PDP, a party under increasing strain as the political climate heats up. His decision is expected to further energize the APC in northern Nigeria as it strengthens its base in preparation for the next election cycle.
Meanwhile, a former National Youth Leader of the APC, Ismail Ahmed, has dismissed fears that Nigerians may resort to public backlash, such as stoning government officials, due to rising economic difficulties under the Bola Tinubu administration.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television on Tuesday, Ahmed insisted that all hope is not lost and that Nigerians still believe in the APC-led government. He said the administration has prevented a total economic collapse, adding that the increased borrowings are being invested in visible infrastructural development across the country.

He acknowledged ongoing challenges like insecurity and hunger but argued that the Tinubu government has laid a solid foundation within its first two years and has time to fulfill its promises.
