Four female students of Joseph Sarwan Tarka University, Makurdi (JoSTM), were abducted on Tuesday night by unknown armed men on campus.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the victims, identified as Emmanuella, Fola, Susan, and Ella, were ambushed around 8:30 pm while heading to a lecture hall to study.

Reports indicate that five gunmen surrounded the students near Zamfara Hostel, forcing them into the bush despite their attempts to escape and call for help.
A fellow student, who spoke anonymously, described the situation as terrifying. “They tried to run, but the kidnappers cocked their guns and threatened to kill them. The students had no choice but to comply,” she said.

News of the abduction spread quickly, causing panic and protests among students. Many expressed frustration over the security situation on campus, demanding urgent action from the university management.
“This is unacceptable,” another student stated. “We should not have to live in fear while trying to get an education. The school must act immediately to secure their release and improve security.”

The university have yet to issue an official statement. However, the Benue State Police Command confirmed the incident, with spokesperson CSP Catherine Anene stating that investigations were ongoing.
