Ninth-placed Sociedad, who face Manchester United in the Europa League last 16 on March 6, had edged Barcelona 1-0 in their previous meeting in November. However, their chances of repeating that success diminished early when Aritz Elustondo was sent off in the 17th minute for a last-man foul on Dani Olmo.
Barcelona wasted no time capitalising on their numerical advantage. Eight minutes after the red card, Lamine Yamal combined with Olmo to set up Martin, who finished at the back post.

Four minutes later, Olmo was involved again as his shot from the edge of the box took a decisive deflection off Casado and found the net. It was a milestone moment for both Martin and Casado, who scored their first Barcelona goals.
The hosts continued their relentless attack, and within a minute of Pedri hitting the woodwork with a long-range curler, Araujo headed in a pinpoint Raphinha corner to make it 3-0.
Lewandowski completed the rout on the hour mark, instinctively redirecting Araujo’s effort past a helpless Alex Remiro, sealing a convincing victory for Barcelona.
