In a keenly contested election, Akin Akintola has emerged victorious as the new Chairman of the esteemed Ikoyi Club.

Eko Hot Blog gathered that Akintola who is grandson of the late Premier of the Western Region, Chief Ladoke Akintola, will in his new role as Chairman of Ikoyi Club, be expected to uphold the club’s rich legacy and foster a strong sense of camaraderie, community, and excellence among its distinguished members.
In doing so, he will continue to drive initiatives that promote the club’s longstanding values and traditions, while also embracing the evolving needs and interests of its members.
It was gathered that Mr. Okoro attempted to rally Igbo members in delivering en-bloc votes based on the belief that it was time for an Igbo individual to assume the position.
However, these efforts proved futile due to the club’s strict adherence to maintaining a focus on social activities and recreation, resisting any form of political coercion that may undermine the goals and vision of the esteemed club.

In the race for the position of Vice Chairman Bolaji Martins secured victory with 578 votes, edging out Ayo Ogunyinka, who garnered 567 votes.
Other contenders in the election included Bolaji Ayorinde, who received 361 votes, Soga Odumabo with 349 votes, and Yomi Benson, who trailed with 138 votes.
Established in 1938, the Ikoyi Club is one of Nigeria’s oldest and most prestigious social clubs, offering a wide range of top-notch facilities that cater to the recreational needs of its members.
