The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has reaffirmed its commitment to conducting free, fair, and credible local government elections in Lagos State.
Ekohotblog reports that this assurance was given by the Chairman of the Commission, Justice Bola Ighile, during an inspection visit to the Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Secretariat, Agbowa, on Tuesday.

The LASIEC delegation, led by Justice Ighile, was warmly received by the Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, Otunba-Akogun Wale Raji Anomo, along with members of the Council Executive, Legislators, and the management team.
Addressing the gathering, Otunba-Akogun Anomo commended LASIEC for its proactive approach in assessing electoral readiness. He assured the Commission of the LCDA’s full support in ensuring a seamless electoral process.
“We appreciate the leadership of LASIEC for taking the time to inspect and evaluate the readiness of various council areas.
As a government, we are committed to fostering a smooth electoral process by working hand-in-hand with the Commission to ensure a peaceful and transparent election,” Anomo stated.
In response, Justice Ighile emphasized the Commission’s resolve to uphold electoral integrity, stressing the importance of voter education, security, and logistical efficiency.
“LASIEC is fully prepared to conduct an election that will be free, fair, and credible. We remain committed to transparency and adherence to electoral rules while engaging all stakeholders to create a conducive environment for voters,” she assured.
The LASIEC Chairman also urged the Council to sensitize residents on the importance of peaceful participation, stressing that voter education is crucial in strengthening democracy at the grassroots level.

Justice Ighile and her team have been on a tour of various LGAs and LCDAs across the state, following their inauguration by Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu on January 10, 2025. The engagement aims to ensure adequate preparation and support for a smooth electoral process scheduled to take place later this year.
