EKO HOT BLOG reports that Akpoti-Uduaghan, the senator representing Kogi Central, had earlier petitioned Akpabio, accusing him of s£xual harassment following a dispute over Senate seating arrangements.
However, the Senate Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct, and Public Petitions dismissed her claims on Wednesday, citing procedural violations and legal constraints, declaring the petition “dead on arrival.”
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Thursday, March 6, 2025, Nwaebonyi insisted that Akpoti-Uduaghan’s allegations were driven by her frustration over being removed as chairperson of the Senate Committee on Local Content.
“Senator Natasha is claiming s£xual harassment because she lost the chairmanship of Local Content, not because she was harassed by Senator Akpabio or any other senator,” Nwaebonyi stated.
According to him, Akpoti-Uduaghan had been comfortable in her role as chairperson of the Local Content Committee, but the Senate periodically reshuffles committee leadership. Her committee was affected like others, and she was reassigned to the Senate Committee on Diaspora, a change she reportedly opposed.
The Ebonyi senator accused his colleague of prioritizing personal interests over national concerns. “She is not putting Nigeria first. She is not putting her constituency first. She is putting her interests first, and that is the cause of this allegation,” he asserted.
