- President Trump Eyes J.D. Vance as Successor for GOP Nomination
- Trump has dismissed the idea of running for a third term, citing constitutional limits
President Donald Trump has offered a significant endorsement for the future of the Republican party, suggesting that his current Vice President, J.D. Vance, is the most likely individual to secure the 2028 presidential nomination.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Trump’s remarks represent a notable shift from his earlier stance in February, when he had cautioned that it was too early to discuss the 2028 race.

During his recent commentary, Trump also raised the prospect of a formidable Republican ticket, mentioning the possibility of Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio running together. This suggestion highlights a strategic vision for the party’s leadership beyond his own presidency.
Despite some public speculation and a sustained effort by some of his supporters for a potential third-term bid, Trump has consistently dismissed the idea. He told CNBC’s “Squawk Box” that while he has his “best-ever” poll numbers and would like to run again, he would “probably not” do so out of respect for constitutional limits.

J.D. Vance, a former Marine and lawyer, has quickly risen in political prominence since joining the administration. He has taken on a number of key roles as a domestic policy advocate and a diplomatic envoy, gaining valuable experience that would be crucial for a presidential run.
Vance has previously suggested he might run for president in the future, but only after getting President Trump’s approval. Meanwhile, Marco Rubio has also become a key person in the administration, holding two important jobs as both the national security adviser and secretary of state.
