EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Senate Committee on Ethics has recommended a six-month suspension for Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central Senatorial District, over her sexual harassment allegation against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
According to reports, the committee also advised that during the suspension period, Senator Natasha’s salary and security details should be withdrawn.
Additionally, the committee recommended that the senator issue a formal apology to the Senate for what it described as an act of disrespect towards the legislative body.
Meanwhile, Senator Onyekachi Nwaebonyi, representing Ebonyi North in the National Assembly, has alleged that Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s accusation against Senate President Godswill Akpabio stemmed from her dissatisfaction over losing a committee leadership position.
Akpoti-Uduaghan, the senator representing Kogi Central, had earlier petitioned Akpabio, accusing him of sexual harassment following a dispute over Senate seating arrangements. However, the Senate Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct, and Public Petitions dismissed her claims on Wednesday, citing procedural violations and legal constraints, declaring the petition “dead on arrival.”
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Thursday, March 6, 2025, Nwaebonyi insisted that Akpoti-Uduaghan’s allegations were driven by her frustration over being removed as chairperson of the Senate Committee on Local Content.
