An anonymous teacher recalled witnessing an argument between the computer teacher and the young pupil over what was described as a minor offense one that would normally have warranted a light punishment such as caning, having to pick up pieces of paper, or cutting a small patch of grass.
Instead, the computer teacher escalated the situation by attacking the pupil, leaving him with a deep machete wound to his wrist that required hospitalization.
Local resident and school neighbor Affiong Bassey stated that the teacher in question had a notorious reputation for using a machete and knife to discipline students on school premises.
Bassey noted that the school authorities had long ignored his violent methods until parents threatened to file a petition following this latest incident.
