The Borno State Commissioner of Police Yusufu Lawal, on Friday, presented cheques totaling N35,656,506.60 to the families of 17 police officers who lost their lives while on duty.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the handover was part of the Group Life Assurance Benefits and IGP Family Welfare Insurance Schemes an initiative by Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, according to ASP Nahum Daso, the state police command spokesperson.

During the ceremony, CP Yusufu Mohammed Lawal presented the cheques to the next of kin of the fallen officers and to the families of those injured in the line of duty, acknowledging the substantial support provided by the IGP.
He expressed gratitude for the welfare package, describing it as a significant relief for the families, and urged the beneficiaries to manage the funds prudently for their long-term well-being.
