A Toyota Mazda bus with registration number BKN 332 XB (Lagos), loaded with planks, collided with a petroleum tanker carrying 45,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, along the Oyo-Ogbomoso Expressway.

Reports indicate that the accident occurred on Saturday afternoon when the bus, allegedly speeding, crashed into the stationary tanker, which had been parked by the roadside due to a mechanical fault.
Confirming the incident, the General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Service, Mr. Yemi Akinyinka, stated that no casualties were recorded.
“The unfortunate incident was reported at exactly 16:36 hours on Saturday, March 8, 2025.
Our personnel, led by ACFS Oyedeji, were immediately deployed to the scene. Upon arrival, we found a petrol tanker with registration number GMB 174 JB (Gombe), loaded with 45,000 litres of PMS, and a Toyota Mazda bus with registration number BKN 332 XB (Lagos), both engulfed in flames.
We swiftly applied a chemical foam compound to suppress the fire and implemented necessary precautionary measures to prevent an explosion. The fire was fully extinguished after an hour of intense firefighting operations.

While both vehicles were completely burnt, no casualties were recorded. Our investigation revealed that the tanker had been parked due to a mechanical fault, and the speeding bus hit it from behind, triggering the fire.”
