EKO HOT BLOG reports that in a statement on Friday, Simon criticized APC’s leadership, stating that the party had deviated from its founding principles and failed to reward loyalty. He lamented that the ruling party’s structure is controlled by a select few power brokers who disregard the voices of the majority.
“This decisive move is born out of my deep-seated conviction that the APC has abandoned its original ideals. The party’s reward system does not honor loyalty, and its leadership structure is dominated by a few who ignore the aspirations of the majority,” he said.
Simon also condemned the lack of internal democracy within APC, describing it as “egregiously compromised” and accusing the party of sidelining grassroots members. He praised the SDP as a party committed to youth inclusion, transparency, and accountability.
“I have made the bold decision to resign from APC and join the SDP, a party that truly represents the interests of the people. I encourage all Nigerians who share my vision to join me. Together, we can build a better future for ourselves, our children, and our great nation,” he stated.

MC Tagwaye, a well-known comedian and businessman, formally submitted his resignation letter to his APC ward chairman, marking the beginning of his new political journey with the SDP.
