Otunba Emmanuel Ajisafe Fayose, popularly known as DOME and a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has vowed to remove Governor Biodun Oyebanji from office in the 2026 Ekiti State gubernatorial election. Fayose made these remarks on Friday while addressing a gathering at the Ansar-U-Deen Central Mosque in Odo Otu, Ado Ekiti, where he joined the Muslim faithful for Ramadan prayers. He donated food items and cash to the congregation, explaining that his visit was to support them during the fasting period.
Fayose did not hold back in his criticism of the All Progressives Congress (APC) government in Ekiti State and at the national level. He described Governor Oyebanji’s achievements as “cosmetic” and not addressing the real needs of the people. According to him, the current administration has failed in key areas such as job creation, infrastructure, and the rising cost of living.
He lamented that many young people in Ekiti are unemployed, with most of them resorting to riding motorcycles (okada) to make ends meet.
He added that the state lacks essential social amenities such as good roads, stable electricity, and adequate security. Food and other basic necessities have become too expensive, making it difficult for many families to afford even one meal per day. He argued that a government that cannot provide these basic needs has failed its people and should step aside.
Fayose assured Ekiti residents that, if elected, he would provide better leadership and address their needs.

He outlined his plans, which include massive job creation through the establishment of factories and industries, empowerment programs for youths and women to help them become financially independent, investment in mechanized farming to boost food production and reduce hunger, and improvement of infrastructure such as roads, electricity, and water supply.
He urged the people of Ekiti to support him, promising that his government would bring real and lasting change to the state.
He acknowledged the suffering of the people and encouraged them to remain hopeful. He reassured them that a better future was possible with the right leadership. “I know what you are going through right now. There is hunger in the land, everything is expensive, and the government is not doing enough to help. But I promise you, if you support me, I will put smiles on your faces and joy in your hearts,” he said.
The Chief Imam of the mosque appreciated Fayose’s visit and his generous donations. He offered prayers for him and acknowledged that Muslims are well-represented in Governor Oyebanji’s administration compared to previous governments.
